  • Overall progress with the development of University Technical Colleges
  • Review of HEI and FEC involvement in the development of University Technical Colleges
  • Issues and lessons arising from applications to establish and the actual development of University Technical Colleges
  • Enabling HEIs and FECs to share their experiences in the development of University Technical Colleges.

The events were hosted by:

  • University of Hertfordshire – 23rd September
  • University of Derby – 28th September

We are grateful to both Universities for their support and hospitality.

Skills Commission – Inquiry into Technician and Higher Level Skills

UVAC Consultation Event -12th May 2011

UVAC, with the support of the University of Winchester, held a consultation event to support the Skills Commission inquiry examining provision for technician and higher level skills.

Around twenty people attended and participated in the event, which was hosted by the University of Winchester.  Attendees were drawn from Universities, Lifelong Learning Networks, Sector Skills Councils and University and College representative organisations, providing good, trans-sectoral representation for the consultation event.  Following a welcome from Professor Joy Carter, Vice Chancellor of the University of Winchester and Chair of UVAC, Chris Hall, Research & Project Manager of the Skills Commission outlined the background to the Inquiry.  This was followed by a chaired debate from which UVAC has produced a response to the Inquiry,  reflecting the key issues emerging from the debate.
