Conference sponsors

We are delighted that CFE have come forward as main sponsors of the 2010 conference; we look forward to working with them.

Conference Scope and Themes

The conference will focus on the policies of the new Government in relation to higher level skills and work-based learning and what businesses and employees want and need from HE. It will include coverage of examples of innovative design and delivery of higher level work-based learning and consider the options for developing and funding the HE role in workforce development.

Good practice dissemination workshop presentations and open sessions

This year, for the first time, the conference will feature two new breakout session strands - a ‘Policy Developments’ strand and an open session strand. The ‘Policy Developments’ strand will feature sessions on the latest and most relevant policies relating to higher level work-based learning while the open session strand will allow members to share good practice with other conference attendees in a more informal setting. As usual, we will also be providing opportunities for the dissemination of examples of good practice from across the UK through interactive workshop presentations.

Conference Content

We are planning to include coverage of:

The Big Picture: Higher level skills, the economy, business and the workforce need. What’s the role of HE?

Business Need: What do businesses and employees want HE to deliver?

How it Can Work: How HE helped my business develop our employees

The Sell Message: How to sell the right HE service to employers and employees

Funding Workforce Development: Variable fees, employer co-funding and how the HE funding system supports workforce development

Government Expectations: The role Government expects HE to play in upskilling the UK workforce
