AURIL
Continuing Professional Development

'The aim of the AURIL-CPD programme is to enhance the knowledge, skills and employability of Knowledge Transfer Professionals through a planned process of Continuing Professional Development (CPD).

The non-assessed route is based on the development of an evidence portfolio. This route is accredited through the University Vocational Awards Council and is likely to be attractive to those Knowledge Transfer practitioners who do not initially want to embark on an assessed programme, but who do want to undertake a recognised and structured approach to their professional development.

This route through UVAC has added a more ‘professional’ status to the work achieved by staff involved in Knowledge Transfer and ultimately has helped to contribute to the development of the New Institute of Knowledge Transfer'.

Skills Active

'The UVAC criteria and guidelines for the accreditation of Foundation degrees and Graduate Apprenticeship schemes have had a positive impact on their design and implementation in the Active Leisure and Learning sector. Achievement of the UVAC Quality Mark allows higher education institutions to demonstrate that their vocational programmes are employer related and meet the needs of the sector'.

UCLan

'The paper-based application for accreditation of the work-based FDSc was completed shortly after the programme validation event in Summer 2004. On reflection, familiarity with the key issues and frameworks in the UVAC accreditation process prior to programme development was one of the key factors in the design of a quality product.

Based on a carefully designed product, and with the support and guidance of UVAC colleagues, the process was straightforward. Clear, well-documented criteria and guidance notes helped to structure the application, whilst a degree of flexibility in the presentation of the application provided welcome scope for individuality, and the opportunity to identify the product’s distinctive features.

The UVAC Quality Mark has given the course credibility not only within the higher education sector but also in the workplace, emphasising the degree’s relevance to the current skills and lifelong learning agendas within the health and social care sector'.

'GlaxoSmithKline has recently worked with UVAC on the Quality Mark award for our UK chemistry Industrial Placement program. I feel confident that the benefits of integrating a UVAC/NCWE-recognised professional development program into our Industrial Placement Program will be obvious to the students, their universities and future employers'.
