'The paper-based application for accreditation of the work-based
FDSc was completed shortly after the programme validation event
in Summer 2004. On reflection, familiarity with the key issues and
frameworks in the UVAC accreditation process prior to programme
development was one of the key factors in the design of a quality
product.
Based on a carefully designed product, and with
the support and guidance of UVAC colleagues, the process was straightforward.
Clear, well-documented criteria and guidance notes helped to structure
the application, whilst a degree of flexibility in the presentation
of the application provided welcome scope for individuality, and
the opportunity to identify the product’s distinctive features.
The UVAC Quality Mark has given the course credibility
not only within the higher education sector but also in the workplace,
emphasising the degree’s relevance to the current skills and
lifelong learning agendas within the health and social care sector'.
